“Am I in the picture? Am I getting in or out of it? I could be a ghost, an animal or a dead body, not just this girl standing on the corner…”
― Francesca Woodman

Francesca Woodman was a photographer and remains one of the most important names to this day, her life was cut short sadly when she committed suicide at the age of 22. Many theorists believed that Woodman's work was a documentation of her leaving life, this is because in most her images she appears to be blending or disappearing into the background. Woodman produced over 800 images during her lifetime, her work contained qualities of Surrealism and her work has been compared to the likes of Man Ray. Woodman's images are only known through date and location, as they remained 'Untitled'. Her work contains blurred imagery and naked women, the figures have connections with their backgrounds almost blending into one another. Backgrounds that consist of; the outdoors, derelict buildings and home- like surroundings.

Francesca Woodman has inspired many with her images, she continues to do so even after death. One inspired artist being myself, whilst progressing onto my new series of images, I wanted to incorporate surroundings and my body. Woodman achieves this perfectly, although in my images I don't want to appear in the nude. Just like Woodman, I want to in some way blend my images with my body. My approach by layering images on Photoshop, in some way disguises the image beneath of my body. Leaving my viewer, to communicate longer with my images and to come to whatever conclusion they believe fits.
